PAPSAS Region XI successfully conducted its Board Meeting on 29 January 2026 via Zoom, bringing together board members for meaningful exchange, strategic planning, and collective decision-making in support of the organization’s mission. The meeting opened with a prayer led by Mr. Erwin U. Maban, MBA, PAPSAS XI Board Member, setting a reflective and collaborative tone. This was followed by a Kumustahan session, where members shared updates on school accreditation preparations, leadership transitions, and ongoing institutional initiatives across their respective schools. Ms. Theresa S. Eliab, MS, CSASS, PAPSAS XI President, also shared an important milestone on the completion of the Certified Student Affairs and Services Specialist (CSASS) Course, a professional development program in the Philippines. She highlighted the participation of Ms. Wijawati H. Rainu-Wong, LPT, MAEM, PAPSAS Auditor from Joji Ilagan International Schools, along with other student affairs and services practitioners from schools in the Davao Region, and encouraged more members to take part in this capacity-building opportunity. The Board further discussed upcoming Kapehan and Growth Sessions, the conduct of a needs assessment survey, and the strategic alignment of PAPSAS-initiated activities with national and partner organizations to maximize participation and impact. Plans for a Business Pitching Project involving various schools were also explored. In addition, Mr. Irvin N. Mirabueno, LPT, MA, PAPSAS XI Board Member, emphasized the importance of strengthening school participation in research initiatives to support evidence-based practice and institutional development. Overall, the meeting reaffirmed PAPSAS Region XI’s commitment to collaborative leadership, strategic governance, and sustained regional growth. Through continued collaboration and shared responsibility, PAPSAS Region XI strengthens its role in serving its stakeholders and promoting excellence across the region.

Student Affairs and Services practitioners and student leaders from Region XI, representing Rizal Memorial College, Holy Cross of Davao College, University of Mindanao Tagum, and Monkayo College of Arts, Sciences, and Technology, proudly attended the 𝟏𝟕𝐭𝐡 Interactive Youth Forum held on February 25–27, 2026 at Enus Parkview Hotel, Baguio City. Organized by the Philippine Association of Practitioners of Student Affairs and Services (PAPSAS) National, this forum provided a dynamic platform for student leaders to engage in interactive learning, collaboration, and discussions on leadership, good governance, and youth empowerment. Through workshops, team-building activities, and thought-provoking sessions, participants strengthened their leadership skills, shared best practices, and connected with fellow student leaders from across the nation. The Philippine Association of Practitioners of Student Affairs and Services, Inc. (PAPSAS) Region XI successfully conducted its Board Meeting on February 19, 2026, at St. Mary’s College of Tagum, Inc., followed by a Campus Tour and Benchmarking Activity at St. Mary’s College of Tagum, Inc. (SMCTI). The meeting commenced at 9:45 AM with an opening prayer and fellowship among members. Institutional updates were shared, including preparations for accreditation, upcoming board elections of member institutions, and continuing initiatives to strengthen research standards and student services across the region. One of the key highlights of the meeting was the formal transition of leadership in the Secretariat. Ms. Carmela J. Lao officially assumed the role of PAPSAS Region XI Secretary following the resignation of the previous Secretary. The Board also approved the public announcement of her appointment. Significant discussions centered on the 2026 Calendar of Activities, including: • Participation in the National Assembly in April 2026 • Preparations for the Midyear Interactive Youth Forum (IYF) in October 2026 in Davao • Conduct of Growth Sessions focusing on newly appointed practitioners, CMO 9 fundamentals, research capability building, and possible Regional Research Conference The Board also explored collaborative initiatives with other organizations and the inclusion of Basic Education moderators in upcoming professional development activities. Research initiatives were likewise proposed, including the collection and presentation of studies related to CMO 9 and the possibility of organizing localized research forums to encourage wider participation among Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). In the afternoon session, the Director of Student Affairs and Services of St. Mary’s College of Tagum, Inc. (SMCTI), Mr. Christopher M. Pulmones, CHP, presented the institution’s best practices in Student Affairs and Services. The presentation highlighted comprehensive policy and procedure manuals, as well as efficient and responsive service systems that support student welfare and development. These shared practices provided valuable insights for benchmarking and continuous quality improvement among member institutions. The activity concluded with a renewed sense of unity and shared purpose, reaffirming PAPSAS Region XI’s commitment to collaboration, professional growth, and excellence in delivering student-centered services across the region.
