Highlights from the 1st PAPSAS, Inc. Negros Occidental Chapter Convention held on October 30, 2024, at the La Salud Activity Center, University of Negros Occidental - Recoletos! It was an incredible day filled with inspiration, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing among SAS Practitioners from 17 colleges and universities across Negros Occidental. On March 14, 2025, a pivotal moment unfolded at the PAPSAS, Inc. Negros Occidental Chapter's Upskilling Session, where educators, administrators, and SAS Practitioners from 25 schools across the province united with a singular purpose: to confront and master the complexities of upholding student discipline. The theme, 'Upholding Student Discipline: Legal Safeguard and Best Practices for Implementers,' resonated deeply as the session aimed to equip those at the forefront of education with the knowledge and tools to navigate the delicate balance between enforcing discipline and safeguarding student rights. The gathering was marked by a profound sense of commitment as attendees were guided through legal frameworks, practical strategies, and ethical considerations that every SAS practitioner must embrace. The session was elevated by the wisdom of keynote speaker Atty. Dodie Opinion Turla, Dean of the School of Law at the University of Negros Occidental - Recoletos, whose insightful presentation illuminated the often intricate relationship between legal safeguards and the everyday realities of school discipline. His words echoed through the room, offering a compass for SAS Practitioners who are both protectors and guides in the lives of their students. As the session concluded, it was clear that the impact of this gathering would be far-reaching.
